Rent vs. Host


If you own a vacation rental property, it is wise to spend TTT points rather than rental income each time you travel.  To illustrate, we've provided three examples. Each assumes a conservative 15% rental management fee and a 35% tax bracket.


Example One
If you rent your property for $4,000/week, you will have $2,000 left to spend on your own travel (after 35% taxes and 15% management fee).

To stay in a comparable ($4,000/week) property when you travel would, therefore, cost an additional $2,000.

Instead, if you "host" a Trade to Travel member in your $4,000/week property, you will receive 10 points (1 point for each $400 of Weekly Rental Value).

With 10 points, you may stay in a $4,000/week property for a TTT Transaction Fee of $800.  You save enough to pay for an airfare or two.  And, in many cases, you still have "spending money" left over!

Example Two
If you rent your property for $10,000/week, you will have $5,000 left to spend on your own travel (after 35% taxes and 15% management fee).

To stay in a comparable ($10,000/week) property when you travel would, therefore, cost an additional $5,000.

Instead, if you "host" a Trade to Travel member in your $10,000/week property, you will receive 25 points (1 point for each $400 in Weekly Rental Value).

With 25 points, you may stay in a $10,000/week property for a TTT Transaction Fee of $2000.

With 50 points, you may stay in a $20,000/week property for a TTT Transaction Fee of $4000.
